The hunter and the farmer
There were two hungry men. One decided to hunt. The other decided to farm.
The hunter tracked his prey. He had to be swift, spontaneous, accurate in taking aim and lucky as well. He was competing with several other capable hunters in the same forest area for its scarce resources. He had also to be wary of the numerous traps and pitfalls that lay in the forest. Despite all his efforts, he often came home hungry
The farmer built a fence around his little piece of land, sowed some seeds and watered them regularly. He waited patiently. Soon he had food in abundance.
Moral of the story: stop hunting and start cultivating.

I see it differently:
Moral of the story:
Lead a boring, what-everybody-does life and you'll be safe, well-fed and fat.
Atleast the "hunter"'s life has some edge and excitement to it; even if he had to go hungry once in a while.

i think the farmer can go sky diving or rapelling for adventure if he has to.
here it is about food.

What everybody does is subjective.
There are a whole bunch of hunters as well out there, and cultivators as well. (each successful on their own no doubt.)
Boring is even more subjective :)
Well fed and fat sounds good, eh SD?

@salim - well the farmer could. But i was interpreting the farmer and the hunter in a metaphorical sense. If you want it to be literal... :-/
@arijit - i'm well fed. Fat i shall never be. :-P ... wanna come play basketball?

which SD are u referring to?
Hunting is painful and uncertain. Farming is relatively risk free.

moral of the story:
hire people to do cultivating and hunting while you sit back and enjoy the spoils.

In life, there's a time to be the hunter and a time to be the farmer.
Perhaps its only after you've spent some time as the hunter, you realize its better to be the farmer.
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
@slim: Very well written.
@anonymous: It has nothing to do with stupid veggies. :P

Well, humans finally did - they started 'cultivating' non vegetarian food :P.
To me, the last statement spoke much more than the whole of the rest of text :).
