rock....

like most iitians. i started listening to rock music towards the end of my first year. my second and third year was devoted to exploring different genres. i started off with misc hit songs from different bands in my first year summer. then i discovered metallica, followed by gnr, dire straits. after 3rd sem, i got my own comp. then came pink floyd, RATM, maidens. I had this grunge craze once when i listened to nirvana, AIC, audioslave, soundgarden, pearl jam and STP. Then I had a trash metal phase where overly indulged in metallica and megadeth.

the last one year i have attended 6 rock c0ncerts in Mumbai. the tsunami livewire, mosh mania, i-rock, mikanos rock show, livewire @ mi 05 and now the rock show at kala ghoda. interestingly, zero has performed at 5 of these 6 shows. and we were almost gonna get them for mi05 as well. ther is something about live indian rock that turns me on. especially zero...

till date, i have only purchased one audio cd in my life. and that was zero's latest album.. "procrastination". i actually searched several planet m's for the same. finally found the cd at their stall in MI a month back. prolly i did so coz ripped foreign mp3 are easily available. but a part of me also wanted to support this mindblowing band.

i love zero's originals. psp, lucy, christmas in july, old man... , mariachi, hate in me, etc. and their live performances are always exploding with energy. i once saw zero performing christmas in july with a sitar player... simply terrific. parikrama is another band with a fabulous live act. for livewire, we would select bands on two major parameters: song list and stage act. parikrama and vayu have almost similar song lists. but parikrama scores well over vayu in terms of its stage presence. 2Blu wud do well to stop behaving like a retard on stage.

checked gigpad after a long time. it seems there is a rock concert in mumbai alomst every second or third day in some collge or the other. i hope the future is bright for indian rock
