free loaders
last night we had an interesting experience with dinner....
on occasion of holi, the mess was closed. so me, arijit and chaube had no option bu to go outside to eat. having already eaten out several times during the week each of us shared a common concern: severe cash crunch.
to save money, we started by setting off for dinner by foot. walking thru the lakeside gate we finally made our way to HN. at HN we were once again at loss as to how to minimize the cost of our meal. we decided to wander about galleria looking for the cheapest joint to hit upon.
on reaching galleria, we found the entire place was swarming with iitians, most of whom we personally knew. that was it..... no need any more for us to order food! we geezed parathas from 4 different ppl, chopsuey and fried rice from another group, ice cream bites from several ppl stepping outside baskin etc..
in the process we also met rathi on a date who had momentarily stepped outside of mocha for a phone call... miserly fellow refused to lend us 50 bucks inspite of seeing our pitiful state.
nonetheless, courtesy some wingies, hostel sophies, department mates, hostel bathcmates, mi co-cgs etc.. we managed to have a good meal in bits and pieces.

somethings cant be undone... try as hard as u might.

imagine
... a day when u wake up, go to class in morning, have good lunch in mess, read novel all afternoon, play in the evening, do btp, go out for dinner with close friends, come back, gossip for a while, read, again and go to sleep. no fears, no mood swings, no drama, no regrets.
sounds trivial right? and yet so far fetched.......

a solution
last november i had posted the following lines... they strike me as significant once again.
a lot of things around you really don't have any viable solutions. is there any point in trying so hard to seek solutions? isn't it easier to just live with them without bothering?
where do u draw the line between being cautious and overreacting?
how about trying to live and enjoy the present with no baggage from the past and no fears of the future? is that being happy or is it being reckless?
- 29th November 2005
sometimes you are faced with a sticky situation that you really cant get out of. one way or the other, you cannot find a happy way around it. its a lose - lose situation. its times like this when you really wish u cud just vanish. now if only that were a viable solution....

strawberries
i spent a whole weekend eating delicious strawberries, playing cricket with a pokemon ball and an empty pepsi 2 ltr bottle, losing at uno and clicking photos.
running off to mahabaleshwar last weekend was a cool thing to do indeed. it takes 5 hours to get there by car. its best to leave arnd 4 am and ascend the ghats at sunrise. the spectacular view of the mountains and valleys are unforgettable. the hill station is full of strawberry gardens scattered on the hill side. i have never tasted bigger or sweeter strawberries than on this trip.
if u get bored of mahabaleshwar, its lake and points; u can always drive off to panchgani. around 20 km away, this hill station is popular for boarding schools and a flat expanse of land called table plateau on the top of a hill.
i hope to visit atleast a few other nearby places in the two months before passing out of iit.
